Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world's largest association of technical professionals working in the fields of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, and allied disciplines. Members of the IEEE community stay connected to learn and share through online platforms such as IEEE Xplore, an IEEE e-learning library. IEEE produces over 30% of the world's literature in electrical and electronics engineering and Computer Science, publishing over a hundred peer-reviewed journals.
We, the IEEE BITS Goa Student Chapter are driven by the motivation to build a thriving community of Tech-Heads on campus. We organise workshops talks and conferences that are in alignment with the ongoing technical advancements and industrial requirements. In our first event of the Year, IEEE Tech talks happened. Early in the first semester we had a GSoc information session in which our own GSocers guided their juniors. Lumini, our annual Tech conference had industry professionals from Intel, Cisco, Google developers, Ericsson and Texas Instruments enlightened the students with their knowledge in the field of Internet of Things, app development for the general Indian public, and R&D in some other advanced technologies. Q & A sessions were organised after every talk so that the students could interact personally with the professionals. We held a free workshop on Machine Learning by Intel, giving away certificates and goodies to the participants. A talk was delivered by Head of Codechef, India, Anup Kalbalia on Competitive Programming. Mr Sanjeev Keskar, Managing Director, Arrow Electronics, India also gave a talk on Design in India. We also organised a session "To B.E. or what to BE?" in which seniors talk to the first year students about interesting branch combinations, duals, reverse duals, and future prospects of each branch. It was an event completely organised by our team of first year students.
We, through our initiatives, try to get the technical quotient up by organising events that provide inspiration, hands on experience, and guidance for all technically oriented minds around. The IEEE OC organises all events independently, managing everything right from sponsorship, logistics to content, design and publicity. Being on the team, the exposure is great and one gets directly in touch with industry professionals not just from India, but from all around the world. Making a whole event happen and interacting with the forefront leaders of technology is a wholesome experience alltogether.
Leading technocrats of the world have invested their time and trust in IEEE since its commencement. Now it's your turn. Contact any IEEE OC member to get on the team, or obtain an IEEE membership.
